THE BRIEF

  • Better support multi-modal travel with particular emphasising travel planning and avoiding delays

  • Promote a shift to walking and cycling (we can assume the ability to integrate data and features from Melbourne Bike Share)

  • Better promote ticketing information and purchase

USER RESEARCH

Useful features:

  • Find transport timetables

  • Platform information for trains and transfer

  • Check for service disruptions

Common pain points:

  • Journey planner too hidden in the app

  • App doesn’t offer smart search (user needs to know the exact address, station or landmark)

  • App wasn’t intuitive to use

  • Doesn’t give route options such as quickest

  • Next 5 doesn’t always give accurate information and is limited to stations around around you

  • A lack of information about Myki

Problem statement

  1. The current PTV app is feature rich but the information is hidden behind challenging UI.

  2. How can we include walking and cycling promotion and ticketing purchase.
